We really are so excited to announce the release of a brand new Stanford Road song - BLACK COFFEE. We recorded it at Aubitt Studios in Southampton, UK with the devilishly handsome, and totally brilliant Rob Aubrey ❤️❤️❤️ whose talents, yet again, have totally brought all of our ideas to life.
Also joining us on the recording is our delightful bassist Matt Street whose humour, generosity and inherent grooviness made the recording such fun! Matt is not only a stellar bassist but is one of those rare people who is not afraid to voice his opinion on Michael Buble... Nuff said we think Matt....
And for the impeccable and harmonious contributions of Michael Davies on pedal steel, a sheer talent who left us justifiably humbled. Thank you guys!
BLACK COFFEE is now all set and scheduled for release worldwide via digital download on September 9th 2016 but you won't have to wait that to long to hear it as we have just heard that it has been added to radio playlists both here in the UK and in our beloved Nashville! And if you can't even wait til then, why not subscribe (the form is here on our website) to our new fangled newsletter thingy and we will send you a details of private link where you can preview Black Coffee for yourself? Or if you want to just hear it...right now, you can stream it below on the Soundcloud link :-)
It is such a strange thing this songwriting business. One day you are absentmindedly humming a little melody to yourself, and the next you are listening to it through 10 sets of speakers, with it written, recorded and performed and sounding as you could of only dreamt that it would. There is a sweet spot that you find when you are privileged to make music with friends, and I really believe we found that when we were recording Black Coffee.
I hope you enjoy it
Y'all have a great day,
R & T x
