Stanford Road are an Americana/Roots act noted for their compelling harmonies and 'no holds barred' style of narrative songwriting.
An energetic and powerfully emotive outfit comprising of husband & wife duo, Rachael & Terry ‘Blackjaz’ Muller, Stanford Road perform their original material with utter conviction.
After taking an enforced short break from live performance in 2017 when vocalist Rachael suffered a heart attack caused by Myocarditis, the band focused solely on creating yet more new material. Now fully recovered Rachael and Terry have crafted these brand new songs in to a stunning live acoustic show which has both delighted their fans and demonstrated their continued progression as songwriters.
Their music is a rich blend of Americana influenced work that showcases each song as a standalone piece. Stanford Road are also developing a strong reputation for collaborating on projects with artists and writers across many genres. With their 'sumptuous vocal harmonies’ , simple instrumentation and with their bassist Matt Street, Stanford Road's atmospheric and memorable songs continue to reach out to new fans.
With their new material now being showcased at their live shows, Stanford Road also had the opportunity of work-shopping one of their new songs 'Feathers & Stones' at AmericanaFestUK 2018 with a panel of Award winning songwriters - Mary Gauthier, Beth Nielsen-Chapman, Sam Baker and Chris Difford. This year Stanford Road will be performing across the UK at festivals and music venues ahead of a tour in the US this Autumn with the bands highly anticipated full length studio album planned for release 25th January 2019.
Rachael and Terry continue to work hard promoting their fellow artists and in support of their live local music venues and scene. They are supporters of The Americana Music Association UK with Rachael actively involved in planning the annual AMAUK Conference which she does always from from a working songwriter & artist perspective.
Stanford Road formed in 2008 building a catalogue of over 150 songs before releasing the bands debut single 'Letters' in 2014. Showcasing their musicianship on their first EP 'Open Ended' in February 2015,the recording featured the songs 'Independence Highway', 'So Wrong', and 'Fools Comfort' and their stunning stripped back rendition of the Brooks & Dunn classic 'Cowgirls Don't Cry'.
This was followed by a series of single releases including ‘Love Outta Mind’, ‘He Sure Knew How To Party’, ‘Black Coffee’ and ‘If You Want Me’ - all of which receive airplay globally.
Stanford Road traveled to Nashville, TN to continue their ongoing ‘Open Ended’ tour in the famous ‘Music City’. Performing at several well known venues most notably the legendary Bluebird Cafe, Stanford Road’s music captured the attention of a whole new audience, and gave them the chance to work with Grammy Award winning songwriter RC Bannon who provided mentoring on several original songs.
Returning to Nashville Terry took Stanford Road’s music to the esteemed NSAI Spring Training conference, where they received feedback from industry professionals, including Larry Sheridan of Parlour Records on Music Row.
